Camilla has been "hurt" by Prince Harry's public attacks on her, according to a royal author.

The Duke of Sussex claimed that Camilla was playing the "long game" to become Queen has been slapped down by her son.


Andrew Lownie has backed the Queen Consort to behave impeccably towards Harry at the Coronation.

It will be the first time Camilla has seen Prince Harry since the publication of his bombshell autobiography Spare.

Lownie told the Express: "[She will be] naturally hurt but dignified.

"I'm sure she'll behave impeccably towards him in public, whatever her private feelings."

Parker Bowles added: "She married the person she loved and this is what happened."

The Duke of Sussex wrote in his memoir that he felt Camilla played the “long game” for marriage to his father and the crown.

He said regarding Camilla: "I have complex feelings about gaining a step-parent who I thought had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar."

Harry also claimed Prince William "begged" King Charles not to marry Camilla over fears she would become their "wicked stepmother".

He added: "She’s 75, but you know, it’s tough to do it. But she’s never complained. You just do it. Get on with it."
