Lady Susan Hussey quit her honorary role as a Lady of the Household following a storm over her comments to Fulani.

Ngozi Fulani has announced she is stepping down as CEO of Sistah Space following a wave of abuse and backlash over reporting racist remarks made towards her by Lady Susan Hussey.

Lady Susan, 83, quit her honorary role as a Lady of the Household following a storm over her comments to Fulani.

She repeatedly asked Fulani, who runs Sistah Space, a black women's domestic abuse charity, where she was “really from” at a November reception.

Following the allegations, Buckingham Palace released a statement condemning the "unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments" and confirmed the aide had "stepped aside from her honorary role with immediate effect."

However, Fulani has criticised the Royal Family for not apologising directly to her despite making a public statement addressing the incident.

She told Good Morning Britain: "The apology has gone to the public. It has not come to me. The first time I appeared on your show, you asked if I had received an apology.

"The answer was no. The answer is still no. It seems like they’re apologising to the public."

She continued: "If I attend a space at your invitation and something happens, as the host I would expect you to apologise.

"The apology has gone to everywhere else. Everyone can see how my life was changed afterwards."

Fulani also condemned the Palace for not intervening after she suffered a wave of abuse.

She said: "If you are sorry tell me you are sorry. If you are not it speaks for itself.

"If you have to ask someone for an apology, it is not an apology.

"I am just making the point, I just don't see what is so hard to say sorry.

"You sent me an invitation so you know how to find me and you know how to say sorry.

"If you are sorry then say you are sorry, if you are not then I get it, but when you make this apology to everybody, I don't know who you are apologising to."

She added: "The Sistah Space charity has suffered as a direct result...because of this incident, violence has been directed to me.

"The Palace has not intervened, I think they could have, so what I have had to do is temporarily step down as the CEO of Sistah Space."
