Former Labour Party MP Stephen Pound has condemned Russian leader Vladimir Putin for calling for a ceasefire from Israel as he continues his war on Ukraine.
Speaking with Emily Carver on GB News, Pound raged at the Russian leader as he discussed factors complicating matters for the Israeli forces, such as misinformation and confused communications.
“Truth is usually the first casualty of war.“
“We have the situation on the Salah al-Din highway, the north-south highway. There are different, conflicting views as to whether there was an attack there or not. We don't know.”

Pound also pulled from his own time in the military to theorise on what propaganda Hamas might be looking for to strengthen their image.
“What they want is the footage of the IDF, the Israeli Defence Force, people going through into Gaza.”
Emily Carver questioned whether the IDF face an “almost impossible operation” to target Hamas who are embedded within the population of Palestine.
“I agree with you, it would be almost impossible,” said Pound. “It’s what General Mao said: ‘The soldiers, the revolutionaries, are like fish in the sea, in the ocean, you can't separate them out'.”

"Whether you like it or not, people voted for Hamas in Gaza, whether they voted out of fear or loyalty. It's going to be incredibly difficult."
Pound also offered up a suggestion for how Israel’s forces could approach the volatile situation with Hamas.
“If you put yourself in the Israeli Defence Force position, imagine what would happen if they said to Hamas: ‘Give us the hostages back and we withdraw’.”
“Now obviously neither will do that. But I think to actually make a gesture because of the propaganda that is sweeping across the Middle East.”

“Most of the Hamas leaders are in Dubai or in the UAE, and they're in Qatar and the fact that they're negotiating with Iran really shows the light on this.”
Finally Pound condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin for calling a ceasefire in the region, despite his ongoing war with Ukraine.
“One thing, Emily, that absolutely that makes me sick to my stomach - and so much of this is nauseating, repulsive and horrific.”
“The idea of Putin the butcher calling for a ceasefire. How dare he?!”
