Trump stormed to victory in the Iowa caucus

US Senate candidate in Arizona Kari Lake has blasted Joe Biden for driving America into a “ditch” as she talked up Donald Trump’s chances of a second term.

The former television anchor said the Republican frontrunner is the “only way” out of the “mess” created by Biden, who is favourite for the Democrat nomination.

It comes after Trump stormed to victory in the Iowa caucus, with more than half of voters backing the 77-year-old.

Lake spoke on GB News to Nigel Farage about the country's political outlook as it heads into another election cycle.

“I know Trump is the only way out of the mess that we’ve gotten into”, he said.

“The political elite have driven America into the ditch with Joe Biden at the helm, I think Biden has driven us into a ditch.

“I really believe that it’s America First policies that are the only way out of the mess that we’re in.

“Who is going to deliver them? Trump. He’s done it before. He’s delivered a huge job growth, he delivered the lowest unemployment numbers that we’ve ever seen in my lifetime.”

Biden has pointed to a strong economic outlook in a bid to galvanise voters into affording him a second term.

Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, Jared Bernstein, lauded “real progress” with regards to the US economy, but admitted more needs to be done to execute Biden’s outlook.

“Biden’s agenda is a sharp contrast with congressional Republicans’ plans to cut taxes for the wealthy and big corporations while raising health care and prescription drug costs for hard-working American families”, he said in a statement.

The US President has criticised the media for not reporting the economy in the “right way” after being asked about his dwindling popularity ratings.

Trump faces a litany of legal battles as he soldiers on in his run for presidency, with some scepticism as to how he will keep up the balancing act.

Lake hit out at attorneys with “political motivations” as she spoke on the “unfortunate” situation.

“This has been an eight-year witch hunt”, she said.

“They cannot stop him, so they’re weaponising law fare and the judicial system against him.

“The American people see right through it.”
