A poll of 2,000 workers found more than four-in-ten cops have confessed to sleeping with a workmate.
20 professions were studied, with 27 per cent of British workers admitting to having a one-nighter with a colleague at one point.
The least likely profession were teachers, with just 10 per cent admitting to having a fling with a co-worker.
The study by card marketplace thortful.com found the most likely professions to sleep with a colleague were as follows;
1 - Police officers - 44 per cent
2 - Artists - 38 per cent
3 - IT workers - 33 per cent
4 - Gas/Electricity workers - 32 per cent
5 - Bankers - 32 per cent
6 - HR - 29 per cent
7 - Accountants - 28 per cent
8 - Shop workers - 28 per cent
9 - Leisure centre workers - 27 per cent
10 - Bus or train drivers - 25 per cent
The least likely are outlined below;
1 - Teachers - 10 per cent
2 - Social workers - 14 per cent
3 - Scientists - 15 per cent
4 - Lawyers - 18 per cent
5 - Nurses/Doctors - 19 per cent
6 - Estate agents - 21 per cent
7 - Sales workers - 23 per cent
8 - Civil servants - 23 per cent
9 - Engineers - 23 per cent
10 - Charity workers - 24 per cent
Retired police officer, Andy Matthews of Edinburgh, Scotland, told the Daily Mail:
"Police officers are notorious for having affairs and one-night stands with other cops.
It’s never really changed from the days of The Sweeney, with Dennis Waterman and John Thaw always on the lookout for ‘birds’, but it’s not just the male cops on the pull these days!"
