Jeremy Carl claimed that current civil rights laws 'should be revisited' in the UK and US

Senior Fellow Jeremy Carl has claimed that diversity, equity and inclusion frameworks are "discriminatory" against "white people", as he called for civil rights laws in the UK and US to be "revisited".

In conversation with Steven Edginton on GBN America, Carl said that the ideologies surrounding discrimination and inclusion are "sweeping across America" as well as the UK.

Noting a recent case in the Supreme Court, Carl claimed that the "conservative whites" involved in the case felt they "couldn't appeal" against the Asian-Americans making the claim, as they were "more uncomfortable" with the idea of doing something that "looked like they were ruling in favour of whites" than they would ruling in favour of Asian-Americans.

Carl explained: "It's a real example of the kind of informal discrimination that we see going on, and that nobody wants to look like they're doing anything that would be in favour of whites."

Edginton revealed his own studies into diversity, equity and inclusion frameworks, stating that the ideology "seems to have swept across institutions both private and public".

He claimed that following his own investigations, DEI courses, programmes and initiatives "seem to discriminate against white people".

Comparing the US frameworks to the UK's, Edginton added: "At least that's the case in the UK where they say, look, only ethnic minorities can apply for certain internships, jobs and so on."

When asked if DEI courses are an issue impacting the US industries, Carl agreed and claimed in some cases, the discrimination is "so obvious".

Carl told GBNA: "In fact, some of this discrimination is so obvious that there's groups like America First Legal, or my friend Harmeet Dhillon out in San Francisco, who's a Senior Republican Lawyer... there's an American phrase, that there's $20 bills just lying on the ground, waiting for somebody to pick them up.

"These cases are so facially illegal, even under the kind of current civil rights laws which I think we should revisit in some ways, that all you have to do is just say, hey, you actually can't do that."

Carl continued: "Often what we're finding is they just backed down because they know that if it goes to court, they don't actually really have much of a chance of winning.

"But white people have been so beaten down in these discussions, that this type of discrimination has often just gone unchallenged for years."

Hitting out at the current legal systems in dealing with discrimination under DEI cases, both in the UK and US, Carl claimed that people believe it is "just how the system works", but called for it to be changed.

Carl concluded: "People believe it's just like, oh, well, that's how the system works. But the system shouldn't work that way."
