A doctor has exclusively shared the best steps for younger-looking skin
A daily skin care routine is vital for protecting your face from the signs of ageing.
Using one product, in particular, is "crucial" when trying to look years younger, a doctor told GB News.
Wearing a high SPF every day will not only reduce your risk of sun damage, it will lessen the appearance of wrinkles.
Dr Hannah Kopelman said: "The most crucial step in looking younger is protecting your skin from the sun."
Sunscreen does more than just protect your health
GETTYThis slows down the ageing process as your skin is better protected from UV rays that come from the sun. UV rays cause premature wrinkles as they damage elastin fibres in the skin.
While most people know to wear SPF on hot and sunny days, UV rays are present regardless of the weather, so it is worth wearing every day of the year.
Dr Kopelman suggested going one step further and reapplying the product frequently throughout the day. She said: "I always stress the importance of using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day, even on cloudy days.
"Reapplying every two hours when you’re outdoors is essential. I also recommend wearing protective clothing, hats and sunglasses to shield your skin from harmful UV rays."
Another factor that impacts how the skin looks is its hydration. Dry skin will make wrinkles more obvious.
To combat this, the expert suggested looking for three hydrating ingredients in particular. She added: "Keeping your skin hydrated is essential for maintaining its elasticity and smoothness.
"I suggest using a good moisturiser that suits your skin type. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin and ceramides are excellent for retaining moisture and keeping your skin plump."
All of these ingredients are great for anti-ageing and adding moisture and plumpness to your face.
