Former British Cycling chief and the INEOS director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford will follow him to the club.
Ratcliffe has already brought in a new CEO following the departure of Richard Arnold at the end of 2023.
United have pinched Omar Berrada from rivals Manchester City but he will not start his role until the summer.
A report from i News says a director of football will soon be appointed.
Dan Ashworth, the Newcastle director of football, Julian Ward, the ex-Liverpool sporting director and Paul Mitchell, formerly head of recruitment of Tottenham, have been linked with the role.
That appointment will not be made until Ratcliffe's £1.3billion investment is ratified.
But the same report says that news could arrive at some point this week.
United are set to adopt a different approach to the transfer market, with less power for Ten Hag.
The Dutchman has had a big influence on the arrivals of Antony and Andre Onana, two mega-money deals that are yet to prove successful.
United will also aim to lower the average age of their squad by targeting younger players.
The same outlet says two of their targets are Crystal Palace star Olise and Everton ace Branthwaite.

Olise has built a reputation as one of the Premier League's most exciting young players.
The 22-year-old joined Palace from Reading in 2021 and can play both in attacking midfield and out wide.
His injury record may be a concern to United, with him restricted to just 11 top-flight appearances so far this season.
He is set for another two months on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in Sunday's loss to rivals Brighton.

Branthwaite, meanwhile, is enjoying his first season as a regular in the Everton team.
After impressing on loan at PSV Eindhoven last term, the centre-back has started 20 of the Toffees' 23 Premier League matches.
He doesn't turn 22 until June but signed a new long-term contract last October, extending his deal until 2027.
With doubts over the futures of Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans, United will likely be in need of defensive reinforcement ahead of next season.
