The Liverpool legend has provided his thoughts on Sunday's Euro 2024 clash
Jamie Carragher believes Gareth Southgate must alter Harry Kane's role after the England striker struggled in his side's 1-0 Euro 2024 win over Serbia on Sunday.
The Bayern Munich striker was on the fringes of the action in Gelsenkirchen, with Jude Bellingham netting the only goal of the game.
At previous tournaments, Kane has tended to drop deep in order to receive the ball.
Against Serbia, however, he played further forward - though struggled to make an impact as his side scraped all three points.

Carragher, writing for The Telegraph, believes Southgate must stop the experiment of trying to make Kane a 'poacher'.
Instead, the Liverpool icon thinks England would be better off allowing their captain to come back in order to have an influence on the game.
"Kane is a multi-tasking, modern centre forward who was reduced to one-dimension during the 1-0 win over Serbia," he said.
"If Southgate persists with the same system for the rest of the tournament, their No 9 will be heavily compromised. Possibly too much.

"The reason he is world class is because he does not need to score to have an impact on a game.
"At his best, he is a goalscoring No 9, a false 9 and a creative No 10.
"Redefining him as a poacher to accommodate so many team-mates who want to occupy the deep, No 10 position will be the most contentious decision Southgate makes if England are unsuccessful."
Carragher doesn't envy Southgate, however, and admitted it's a difficult job for the 53-year-old.

"Southgate’s match-plan proves that you can never have what everyone wants as the international manager," he continued.
"In the build-up to the tournament there has been a clamour for both Jude Bellingham and Foden to play as the No 10, and against Serbia they did.
"They were always central. With Trent Alexander-Arnold in there as well, it was too congested for Kane to occupy those spaces."
Kane, with 12 goals at major tournaments in the past, remains an undroppable asset for the England.

The Bayern star was asked for his thoughts on the fixture at the Veltins Arena, with the 30-year-old insisting he was proud of the way his team-mates performed.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game, Serbia pose a lot of threats and have some good players," he told the BBC.
"They will make it a battle for you and I think we dealt with it really well.
"There was a spell in the second half where we got camped in our box and we found it hard to get out but it was an important win tonight.

"Very robust, strong and a big group of lads and it was important that we prepared well.
"The staff got it right. We prepared all week very well. We knew the roles we had to do. We try to keep to our own standards and try to do our own job.
"It's important that we got off to a good start. Positive inside the camp and onto the next one.
"I have got used to getting into the box, getting wide and trying to do that. I got into that habit at Madrid and I wanted to carry my form into the Euros.
"It's a great start for me personally to get my confidence up and to help the lads get the win is the most important thing."
