The German has lived away from the spotlight ever since his tragic skiing accident back in 2013

Michael Schumacher is expected to attend his daughter's wedding later in the year, according to reports.

The F1 icon has spent the last 10 years living away from the spotlight following a tragic skiing accident in December 2013.

Schumacher was skiing in the French Alps when he went off course and struck his head on a rock.

The German sustained life-changing injuries and his family have protected his privacy in the time since.

According to Corriere della Sera, Schumacher is now expected to attend his daughter's wedding later in the year.

Gina-Maria Schumacher and her boyfriend, Iain Bethke, are poised to wed this summer.

The wedding due to take place at a mansion owned by the family in Spain.

The property was purchased by the Schumachers in 2017 from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

It is already equipped with the specialist equipment needed to take care of Schumacher.

And the publication says that Schumacher is expected to be in attendance to watch the biggest day of his daughter's life.

A wedding planner is already working ahead of the ceremony.

German newspaper Bunte have said that Schumacher's privacy will be maintained should he go.

The family are in the process of hiring a security team that will ensure no photographs of the 55-year-old leak out.

Last month marked 10 years since Schumacher's accident, with several new details emerging.

He is reportedly cared for by a team of 15 doctors, nurses and masseurs to ensure he's comfortable.

Schumacher has also apparently been driven in a Mercedes car in the hope familiar sounds will aid his recovery.

His brother Ralf, meanwhile, said last month that he misses the way his sibling was before tragedy struck.

“I miss my Michael from back then,” Ralf told Bild.

"Life is sometimes unfair.

"Michael had often been lucky in his life, but then this tragic accident happened.

"Despite modern medical options, nothing is as it used to be."

Former F1 star Johnny Herbert, meanwhile, says he's heard whispers that Schumacher is able to sit with the rest of the family for dinner.

"I hear bits only second hand," he said.

"I hear, from those within F1, he does sit at the table for dinner but don’t know if that is true.

"I can only read between the lines.

"We haven’t heard much from the family and understandably so.

"That has always been very much a part of Michael and the family’s way to keep everything very private, very secretive.

"That has carried on from his racing days.

"I don’t feel things have moved on in a way that many of us who knew him and many of his fans around the world want to see.

"They’d love to know, we’d all love to know that things are moving on in a positive way.

"But because we don’t have any information, we can only assume that he is not yet in a position where there is a chance of a recovery."
