Charlotte Griffiths spoke about a possible reconciliation on GB News

Royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths says Prince Harry breached a fundamental royal protocol before his attempts to arrange reconciliation talks with King Charles.

Speaking on GB News, Griffiths explained that the Duke of Sussex had violated an unspoken rule that has now complicated his efforts to rebuild his relationship with his father.

The breach relates to Harry's public comments about private family matters, which Griffiths suggests has created significant barriers to communication between father and son.

According to the royal expert, this violation has made the King particularly cautious about future interactions with Harry, leading to strict conditions being imposed on any potential reconciliation discussions.

The commentator's revelations shed light on why recent attempts at healing the rift between Harry and the Royal Family have faced such significant obstacles.

The royal commentator outlined the King's requirements for any future communication with his son. "I think he would be willing to meet his demands and it is a pretty simple demand, it is 'if I talk to you, can it not leak out on Oprah Winfrey or any other programme?'" Griffiths stated.

She explained that the Duke of Sussex currently faces significant barriers in contacting his father. "Harry really wants reconciliation and to be able to freely speak to his father, at the moment he cannot get through to his father, he has to go through his aides," the expert revealed.

Griffiths emphasised that establishing clear boundaries for private conversations would be essential. "What will definitely happen is some ground rules for communications. What Harry cannot do is repeat what goes on in private conversations," she said.

Griffiths revealed the specific transgression that damaged Harry's relationship with the King. "Harry said 'we don't know how much time my father has left' and that went down extremely badly, that's why this story is so surprising," she explained.

The royal expert emphasised the severity of this breach. "He broke the cardinal rule which was speculating on the King's health," Griffiths stated.

She clarified that the situation had not reached a critical stage regarding the monarch's condition. "I don't think someone said, 'this is how long Charles has left, now place organise this meeting', I don't think it's at that stage," the commentator noted.

This public speculation about private health matters represents a significant violation of royal protocol, according to Griffiths' analysis.

The Prince of Wales remains firmly opposed to reconciliation with his younger brother, according to Griffiths. "William is in perfect health and is in no rush to make amends with his brother," she stated.

Despite this resistance, the commentator suggested that communication between the King and his heir regarding Harry had occurred. "I think the King will have let William know this was his approach and there would have been a certain conversation," Griffiths explained.

However, she made clear that William would maintain his distance from any reconciliation efforts. "But I don't think William will want to get involved," the royal expert concluded.

Griffiths also suggested that the King's health situation might be influencing his approach. "I think this is driven by the King's health in the respect that the King is very circumspect at the moment and is perhaps in a more forgiving place," she observed.
