The People's Channel star joked about the abrupt change in the British weather

GB News presenter Tom Harwood has poked fun at the unfortunate weather Brits are now experiencing following the recent heatwave as he soaks up the sun abroad.

Tom, who is enjoying catching some rays and having a dip in the pool with friends, playfully mocked the rain and thunderstorms experienced by many in the UK today.

In one selfie in which the presenter is sporting a hat and clearly posing in the sunshine, he wrote on Instagram, Stories: "I hear it's raining in London, too bad."

A second saw Tom snapping a photo of himself stood by the pool with a drink in his hand.

He'd added to the side of the picture a snap of the London forecast, which shows cloud and rains all week.

He penned over the image: "Oh no so sad."

Tom seems to have timed his holiday well, with the period of blistering sun in the UK having taken a turn this week.

Flash flooding struck the Herefordshire village of Orleton on Monday evening as torrential rain brought an abrupt end to last week's scorching 35C heatwave.

Temperatures have plummeted to around 19C, a stark contrast to the blazing conditions experienced during half-term.

Further showers are anticipated through Wednesday and Thursday, with highs remaining between 18C and 20C.

However, weather forecasting models suggest the heat could make a swift return, with the GFS model indicating temperatures may climb back to 30C in south-east England as soon as June 11.

The London area could see those peaks around 6pm, according to the projections.

Between June 11 and 16, some 16 counties across England may experience temperatures of 28C or above, stretching as far north as Yorkshire.

Counties potentially affected include Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lancashire, Essex, Kent, Surrey, Hampshire and Oxfordshire.

The Met Office forecast for the second half of June suggests conditions could turn "hot" in southern areas, though thunderstorms also remain a possibility.

Meanwhile, as Tom enjoys further sunshine without the hiatus faced by Brits, his recent social media posts suggest he successfully "manifested" some of the good weather.

An Instagram post from April showed him once again abroad and enjoying some hot weather.

He penned in the caption: "Respectfully asking for some Californian weather back in London please.

"Manifesting this with a throwback picture."

Instagram followers quickly noted his wish seemed to come true, with one fan writing in the comments: "You must have done something right! The sun is shining now."
