Those named in The Powerlist 2023 were invited to a special royal event

King Charles has been pictured laughing and joking with his guests, welcoming them to a special royal reception.

A cocktail in hand and smiling broadly, His Majesty was joined by British African and Caribbean community leaders at a grand reception inside Buckingham Palace.

Commonwealth Secretary General, Baroness Patricia Scotland, and Labour Party politician, The Baroness Amos, were among the high-profile guests.

Those named in The Powerlist 2023, which aims to celebrate the achievements of 100 influential people of British African and Caribbean heritage in the UK, were also invited.

Among the attendees were Dean Forbes, the boss of hair care company Fortero, and Tunde Olanreqaju, a Senior Partner at consulting firm McKinsey & Company Inc.

The reception follows a similar event at Clarence House in March 2022, when His Majesty hosted those named in The Powerlist 2022 when he was still the Prince of Wales.

The royal engagement comes on a busy day for His Majesty who is also travelling more than 100 miles to Norwich to open the state-of-the-art Priscilla Bacon Lodge hospice, which allows patients to enjoy the surrounding landscape.

King Charles is expected to spend time with patients receiving end-of-life care alongside their families, and will meet volunteers, nurses and other NHS staff.

The Hospice's therapy garden is also expected to be visited by His Majesty, which helps patients to enjoy the Lodge's outside space.

The King visited the Hospice's former Norwich site in 2012, when he was still Prince of Wales.
