Yvette Cooper slams Prime Minister ‘asylum seekers are in UK hotels costing taxpayers’
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has claimed that Rishi Sunak has not cleared the backlog of asylum seekers.
The Labour politician said that the are in "UK hotels costing taxpayers money."
She said: "Rishi Sunak claim to have cleared the asylum backlog is just totally false, in fact the figures are nearly 100 thousand cases and they haven't even fully cleared the bit of the backlog that they were targeting.
"That is why we still have record numbers of people in asylum hotels costing the taxpayer a total fortune.
"Rishi Sunak should stop taking the country for fools, he should stop the boasts and just get on with delivering."
