A brewing row between Britain and Israel is poised to come to the boil over an "11-week block on aid to Gaza" by Israeli forces.

Tzipi Hotovely has been summoned to the Foreign Office for urgent talks - with Labour's Middle East Minister vowing to give her a dressing-down over her country's "cruel and indefensible" actions.

At the same time, Foreign Secretary David Lammy has announced sanctions on a further three individuals and four entities involved in the Israeli settler movement.

Lammy also blasted Israel's "egregious actions and rhetoric", telling MPs: "They are isolating Israel from its friends and partners around the world, undermining the interests of the Israeli people and damaging the image of the State of Israel in the eyes of the world."

It comes after Benjamin Netanyahu accused Sir Keir Starmer of offering Hamas a "huge prize" after the UK, France and Canada called for an end to military operations in Gaza.

Lammy has now suspended negotiations with the Israeli Government on a new free trade agreement - directly blaming Netanyahu.

As a result, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Oren Marmorstein has released a blistering attack on Labour.

"Even prior to today's announcement, the free trade agreement negotiations were not being advanced at all by the current UK Government.

"More than that, the agreement would serve the mutual benefit of both countries. If, due to anti-Israel obsession and domestic political considerations, the British government is willing to harm the British economy - that is its own prerogative."

He added: "The British Mandate ended exactly 77 years ago. External pressure will not divert Israel from its path in defending its existence and security against enemies who seek its destruction."

'I was overly rude!' Keir Starmer issues red-faced apology to Plaid MP after 'rubbish' PMQs jab last week

Sir Keir Starmer has apologised to a Plaid Cymru MP after lashing out at her at last week's PMQs.

Plaid's Liz Saville-Roberts had asked the PM whether he held any beliefs which would "survive a week in Downing Street" - to which he replied: "Yes... The belief that she talks rubbish."

Less than a week later, Starmer has apologised.

"I was being overly rude," the Prime Minister said.

Keir Starmer 'will pay a bitter political price for this betrayal', senior Tory warns

Sir Bernard Jenkin

Veteran Tory MP Sir Bernard Jenkin has warned that the Prime Minister will 'pay a bitter political price' for his 'betrayal'

PARLIAMENTLIVE.TV

Veteran Tory MP Sir Bernard Jenkin has warned that the Prime Minister will "pay a bitter political price" for the "betrayal" EU trade deal.

Jenkin blasted: "Can I just point out to the Prime Minister that nothing can undo the fact that 17.5 million people voted Leave, and they voted to take back control of our laws and to stop paying money to the EU.

"That was a considerably larger vote than the 9.7 million who voted Labour at the last election.

"Now, he is submitting to EU regulations without any control - and he is giving money, starting to pay money back, to the EU.

"He is giving up control over our laws and restoring payments to the EU. He will pay a bitter political price for this betrayal."

Sir Keir Starmer replied: "He knows full well that we had a red line about not rejoining the EU, no single market, no customs union, no freedom of movement.

"We were told it was impossible to negotiate a better deal with the EU with those red lines. We have just done it."

Ed Davey: 'EU trade deal doesn't go far enough!'

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey has said Labour's EU trade deal does not go far enough - despite fury from Kemi Badenoch that it is "selling fishermen down the river".

"We don't think this deal goes far enough to fix our broken relationship with Europe," Davey fumed, and urged Sir Keir Starmer to hold talks with Brussels on creating a bespoke customs union.

"Does the PM accept that this deal must be only the first step?" he asked.

Starmer rejected his call for a new customs union - on the grounds it would "kill the UK's trade deals with other countries".

'Unserious!' Keir Starmer rails against Kemi Badenoch after Tory leader brands PM 'failure'

Sir Keir Starmer has branded Kemi Badenoch "unserious" after the Tory leader branded him a "failure of a Prime Minister" in front of MPs.

"The British people know when they are being misled," Badenoch blasted. "They know that headlines fail. He didn't listen to the CBI on the jobs tax, he didn't listen to the FSB on the family farms tax.

"This deal has already unravelled, the damage is becoming clear, the political consequences will be huge and here he is trumpeting his success.

"When he stands up in a moment, he will deflect, he will dismiss, he will distract... but we all know the truth.

"This was a fiction of a speech, a fraud of a deal, a failure of a Prime Minister."

Starmer replied: "Oh dear... That was just such an unserious response."

Kemi Badenoch: 'Keir Starmer is selling our fishermen down the river!'

Kemi Badenoch

Kemi Badenoch has accused the Prime Minister of 'selling our fishermen down the river'

PARLIAMENTLIVE.TV

Kemi Badenoch has accused the Prime Minister of "selling our fishermen down the river" in a furious rant at his "failed" EU deal.

"This renegotiation should have been an opportunity to improve terms for our country. The terms are improved for the EU," she said.

"And the Prime Minister can dress it up as much a she wants but he has failed. It is bad for bills, it is bad for jobs and it is bad for borders.

"This is not a deal made for Britain. This is a deal made for Labour's PR to show them on the world stage. But it is a stitch-up for our country for their short term headlines."

She added: "This is a Prime Minister who would pay to give away his family silver.

"Why is the Prime Minister selling our fishermen down the river? Is it because they don't vote Labour?"

Kemi Badenoch: 'Starmer's hat-trick of deals are OWN GOALS'

Kemi Badenoch has launched into an attack on Sir Keir Starmer's EU trade deal after the Prime Minister defended the "sell-out" to the Commons.

Badenoch said Starmer's "hat-trick" of deals with India, the US and EU were all "own goals" - as she repeated the Tory attack line that "when Labour negotiates, Britain loses".

The Conservative leader has also labelled it a "surrender" and a "betrayal" as she continues her tirade against the PM.

Suella Braverman: 'Lucy Connolly a VICTIM of two-tier Keir'

Suella Braverman has also issued a scathing reaction to Lucy Connolly's appeal today.

The former Home Secretary said: "Lucy Connolly is a victim of two-tier Keir's war on words.

"Free speech is now on life support under Labour."

Lord Young: 'Lucy Connolly has been condemned while grooming gang members get lower sentences'

Tory peer and Free Speech Union founder Lord Young has also spoken out on the dismissal of Lucy Connolly's appeal.

He said: "This is terribly disappointing. How can it be right for Lucy to have been condemned to spend more than two-and-a-half years in jail for a single tweet when members of grooming gangs who plead guilty to the sexual exploitation of children get lower sentences?

"Lucy should be at home with her 12 year-old daughter and husband, not rotting in jail."

'Let her go home!' Rupert Lowe leads fury as Lucy Connolly's sentence appeal DISMISSED

Rupert Lowe has led MPs' fury at the Court of Appeal after childminder Lucy Connolly's appeal against her prison sentence for a social media post was thrown out.

Lowe, the independent Great Yarmouth MP, said simply: "Lucy Connolly should not be in prison. It's just not right. Let her go home."

'Open the borders!' Keir Starmer told to go FURTHER on 'mobility scheme' as 'trapped' young Britons push to escape the UK

Sir Keir Starmer has been told to go further on a "youth mobility" scheme with the EU and let "trapped" young Britons escape to the continent.

Alfred Quantrill of the Young European Movement has called on the Prime Minister to pull down barriers to Britain's youth living and working abroad - with the group claiming that "being European is part of the story of what makes Britain great".

He said: "Young Britons deserve the same chances enjoyed by most of their peers across the continent.

"The Government must commit to a Youth Experience Scheme that will open doors for British young people through education, training, and work.

"That means rejoining schemes like Erasmus+, but also opening up broader access to apprenticeships, internships, and leisure.

"While our parents could freely work, study and travel across borders, this generation is trapped by paperwork and high costs. The Youth Experience Scheme is Starmer’s chance to fix this failure."

Reform UK drawn into bitter row with miners as Durham Miners' Gala BANS Nigel Farage from attending

Reform UK has been drawn into a bitter row with the Durham Miners' Association after the group banned Nigel Farage and his party from attending its annual gala.

Reform won 65 of the 98 council seats on Durham County Council at the local elections - but DMA General Secretary Alan Mardghum has kicked off open warfare against Farage.

The association listed seven reasons why Farage's track record "does not make pleasant reading for workers," including his opposition to taxing "very rich corporations" and support for replacing the NHS with healthcare insurance.

The DMA also poured scorn on Farage's support for Margaret Thatcher - the Reform boss had said in the past that the Iron Lady "was right", and that closing the mines "may have caused a little pain for some, but it had to happen"...

'He's offering a huge prize to Hamas!' Benjamin Netanyahu tears into Keir Starmer after PM calls for Gaza ceasefire

Starmer/Lammy and Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Sir Keir Starmer of 'offering a huge prize' to terror group Hamas

PA/FCDO

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Sir Keir Starmer of "offering a huge prize" to terror group Hamas after the UK called for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Starmer, alongside his Canadian and French counterparts, had labelled Israel's "escalation" in Gaza "wholly disproportionate" - sparking fury from Netanyahu.

"By asking Israel to end a defensive war for our survival before Hamas terrorists on our border are destroyed and by demanding a Palestinian state, the leaders in London, Ottawa and Paris are offering a huge prize for the genocidal attack on Israel on October 7 while inviting more such atrocities," he blasted.

"The war can end tomorrow if the remaining hostages are released, Hamas lays down its arms, its murderous leaders are exiled and Gaza is demilitarised.

"No nation can be expected to accept anything less and Israel certainly won't.

"This is a war of civilisation over barbarism. Israel will continue to defend itself by just means until total victory is achieved."

Rachel Reeves reveals Labour's next target after UK-EU 'sell-out' deal wrapped up

Rachel Reeves has revealed Labour's next trade target

PA

Rachel Reeves has revealed Labour's next trade target after UK negotiators wrap up a series of unresolved agreements with the EU.

The Chancellor said Britain was nearing a trade pact with six Gulf nations including Qatar and Saudi Arabia - and claimed the country was "in a better place than any other" in terms of trade.

"Britain is in a better place than any other country in the world in terms of deals with those countries," Reeves said.

"The first deal and the best deal so far with the US, we've got the best deal with the EU for any country outside the EU, and we've got the best trade agreement with India."

The Chancellor also said the UK was "not looking to have trade negotiations with China".

Priti Patel and Sarah Jones to speak to GB News in just minutes as Tories and Labour go to war on Brexit 'sell-out'

Shadow Foreign Secretary Priti Patel and Industry Minister Sarah Jones will be speaking to GB News Breakfast at around 8am and 9am respectively as their two parties deal with escalating fallout over yesterday's EU deal and today's YouGov polling.

You will be able to watch the pair live online here - as well as full clips of their grillings at the hands of Eamonn Holmes and Ellie Costello on our live blog shortly afterward.

Richard Tice twists the knife on former party as Tories handed blowout new poll

Richard Tice, Reform UK's deputy leader and a former Conservative Party member and donor, has laid into the Tories following this morning's data.

Tice jabbed that Britain's "minor parties" - the Conservatives and Lib Dems - had now swapped positions, repeating a new attack line against Kemi Badenoch's plummeting party.

'The political landscape has been UPENDED' - top pollster reacts to bombshell data for Tories

Luke Tryl, the director of polling firm More In Common, has vowed that Britain's political landscape has been "upended" by this morning's bombshell YouGov data which has placed Kemi Badenoch's Tories in fourth place among British voters.

Responding to the poll, Tryl said: "Lots that would have once seemed mind-blowing here: Tories in fourth. Labour down to 22 per cent, less than a year after a landslide, Reform seven points ahead of Labour, two 'main' parties on just 38 per cent of the vote between them.

"The political landscape is upended."

Though the pollster also counselled calm over the margin of error in data like this, he added that the Conservatives were "in danger of going the way of the Republicans in France [which folded in 1997] and need a strategy out of it".

Keir Starmer's Tory attacks vindicated as Kemi Badenoch's party plunges to FOURTH in new poll

YouGov poll 20/05

New data from YouGov has once again handed Reform UK a clear lead over Labour

YOUGOV

Sir Keir Starmer's claim that the Conservatives are no longer the official opposition appears to have been vindicated by a bombshell new poll - which has placed Kemi Badenoch's party in fourth place.

New data from YouGov has once again handed Reform UK a clear lead over Labour, with Nigel Farage's party gaining one percentage point and Labour losing one since the pollsters' last survey.

Reform now sits seven points clear of Labour on 29 per cent, ahead of the third-placed Liberal Democrats (17 per cent) and fourth-placed Tories (16 per cent).

It comes just as reports emerged that Starmer had told MPs that the "Conservatives are not our principal opponent" - following on from similar comments made to The Sun last weekend.
