The London Mayor is developing plans to stop the prosecution of under-25s caught with Class B drugs - including cannabis.
Young people caught with Class B drugs instead will be offered speeding course-style classes or counselling instead of arrest.
The rules of the new proposals set up in Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley will call on police officers to not arrest young offenders caught with cannabis, ketamine or speed.
Police officers will be told to instead take young drug users back to their family homes, the Telegraph reported.
This comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his plans to “come down hard” on the gangsters peddling unlawful narcotics as part of the Government’s crackdown plan.
Speaking ahead of the unveiling of the Government’s 10-year drugs strategy in England and Wales, Boris Johnson said the Government was “absolutely determined to fight” the “disgusting” drugs trade.
He warned that Class B drug users will face being losing their passports and driving licences under new regulations.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said the drug problem had “got a lot worse” over the past decade and accused the Tories of taking “millions and millions” of pounds out of the systems for tackling drug use and drug-related crime.
