A man has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer in Northamptonshire.
Max Hallam, 57, is also charged with "causing intentional suffocation" during an incident in Wellingborough town centre yesterday, in which an officer sustained serious injuries.
Hallam, who lives in the town of Irthlingborough in North Northamptonshire, appeared from custody at Northampton Magistrates Court this afternoon.

He was remanded into custody and the case was referred to the Crown court.
Northamptonshire police said an officer "sustained multiple facial injuries as a result of an assault in a car park in Commercial Way in Wellingborough".
Emergency services responded to the incident at around 11am on Tuesday.
Max Hallam is due to appear at Northampton Crown Court on August 12.
