Four people have been injured, and a man has been arrested, after "clashes" broke out between Iranian Government supporters and anti-government protesters at an event marking the country's dead President, Ebrahim Raisi, in London.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson told GB News: "At 6.21pm on Friday, 24 May, officers were called to Alperton Lane, Wembley following reports of disorder.

"An event was taking place to mark the death of the President of Iran, attended by supporters of the Iranian government.

State media announced he had died alongside Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and several others after the rotorcraft smashed into a hillside.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had ordered his country to observe five days of state mourning as thousands of black-clad mourners were pictured in cities across Iran as Raisi's body - alongside those of others who died in the crash - was carried in a casket through the city of Tabriz.

His death, despite the mourners, prompted some dissident Iranians to let off fireworks in the streets of capital Tehran in celebration.

And around the world, more rebels were seen waving the pre-revolutionary flag of Iran, which features a golden lion at its centre - the flag, last used during the reign of the last Shah, represents a sign of protest against the current regime.
