Gary Lineker has been slammed for tweeting about the heatwave as temperatures continue to soar across the country.
In a reply to a weather forecast, Mr Lineker wrote: “Tick tock. Tick tock," in what seemed to be a reference to global warming.
But his comments have been criticised by many, with one angry Twitter user urging the former football star to “stop whinging”.
The user said: “Gary just enjoy the nice weather mate and stop whinging.”

The Met Office has extended its amber warning for a potentially deadly heatwave as soaring temperatures continue across the country.
The warning for extreme heat for much of England and Wales is now in place from Sunday until the end of Tuesday, with the hot spell expected to peak on Monday or Tuesday.
Lineker’s comments come after the BBC announced that he was its top earning on-air talent for the fifth consecutive year and the only name to earn more than £1 million annually.
The 61-year-old pundit and former footballer was paid between £1,350,000 and £1,354,999 in 2021/2022 – a reduction of £10,000 on the previous year.
Lineker first topped the list for 2017/18 with a pay bracket of £1,750,000 to £1,759,999, and in 2020 it was announced he had taken a voluntary pay cut.
Zoe Ball remains the broadcaster’s second highest paid talent, with a salary of £980,000 to £984,999, but figures show her salary falling for a second consecutive year.
