Dan Wootton has called for an urgent reform of counter terrorism policing because “we are one of these attacks away from a mass killing of British citizens”.
His comments come after Ali Harbi Ali was sentenced to a whole-life order for murdering Sir David Amess.
The Government-led agency programme, named Prevent, aims to stop individuals becoming terrorists.
But Mr Wootton and his guests on Dan Wootton Tonight believe the current system is not doing enough to prevent such attacks from taking place.
Political and Royal commentator, Daisy McAndrew said: “Out of 11 big terror attacks, six of the individuals have been through prevent.”

To which Dan replied: “Exactly, which means people are picking this up which is great and prevent is failing. And prevent have had this review going on for the last three years.
“It’s just a joke, we know we have to toughen up prevent, it’s a joke. Pump money in and toughen the damn thing up."
Ms McAndrew continued: “One of the problems with those individuals is they’re not properly trained, they’re not security intelligence people, they’re local council people."
Before Mr Wootton launched a passionate statement: “One of the big problems you have with prevent is that you’ve got a lot of white, do-goody middle class people and this is a fact by the way, rather than folk from the Muslim communities who are actually from the ground and can pick these things up and that needs to change.

“What are we going to wait for, a terrorist attack that kills 50 people?”
“I’m sorry when you’ve got people stabbed in a park, when you’ve got MPs being killed, when you’ve got cars being blown up outside a maternity hospital, enough is enough.
“We are literally one of these attacks away from a mass killing of British civilians.”
Ali wore a black collarless robe and was flanked by three security guards as he arrived for his sentencing today.
Prosecutors described the case as “overwhelming”, and the 26-year-old Londoner himself did not dispute much of the evidence.
Ali was convicted on Monday of one count of murder, and one count of preparing terrorist acts.
He was handed a whole-life order at the Old Bailey today.
Sir David's family said in a statement that they felt “no elation” after Ali was jailed.
The statement continues: “It breaks our heart to know that our husband and father would have greeted the murderer with a smile of friendship.”
