Dan Wootton has shut down Benjamin Butterworth after he defended Sir Keir Starmer’s role in Beergate.
It was announced last week that Sir Keir would be investigated over the incident where he was pictured drinking beer after eating a takeaway in Durham City on April 30.
Debating the topic on GB News, Dan asked: “Surely even you cannot defend him (Sir Keir) today?"
To which Mr Butterworth replied: “It was investigated before and they found he hadn’t done anything.”

Dan stepped in to say: “It wasn’t investigated, you’ve just given disinformation already.”
Before Mr Butterworth continued: “He’s been very clear that he says he followed the rules and to say it was a social event is complete nonsense.”
Dan then probed further by asking Mr Butterworth: “Do you think he followed the rules?”
Mr Butterworth said: “Yes, absolutely.”
Dan added: “Have you read the rules?”, before Mr Butterworth said again : “Yes.”
But Dan wasn’t having his answers, saying: “You can’t say it with a straight face!”
It comes just hours after Sir Keir said he would step down from his role as leader of the Labour Party if he was issued a fixed penalty notice by Durham Police.
Speaking outside Labour's London headquarters, he said: “I believe in honour, integrity and the principle that those who make the laws must follow them and I believe that politicians who undermine that principle, undermine trust in politics, undermine our democracy and undermine Britain.
“I’m absolutely clear that no laws were broken, they were followed at all times.
"I simply had something to eat while working late in the evening as any politician would do days before an election.
“But if the police decide to issue me with a fixed penalty notice I would, of course, do the right thing and step down.”
