As campaigners including WASPI women have long-called for compensation to address the way in which state pension age changes for women born in the 1950s were introduced, we look at your reaction and comments...

Waspi women state pension scandal

Many had to work because we got nothing. They just moved the goal post and took our pensions. Robbery. Disgusting after 43 years I did not do sick. I have friends that have not worked since their 30s and are much better off than the workers. Not happy.

It was a disgrace. My wife is 5 years younger than me, so we were both looking forward to retirement together around the same time. Not to be. Mine went up a year, and my wife’s 7 years. Far too old. Hence at 62 she still has to do something part time to make ends meet. Loosing out on about 70000 and the government gain. Remind us again, how much are they paying daily for those hitting our shores on dinghys that have never paid a penny National Insurance. This country has had it.

Women who worked, paid in. George Osborne, a Tory wide boy, stole their pensions. Gives politicians a bad name.

I am one of these women, born in 1954 and lost out on thousands of pounds due to DWP incompetence and unfair changes. I now have cancer and many others have died before they got any compensation. I would like to think I might get mine, but how long will it go on now.
Chris

So these women wanting compensation hadn’t watched TV for twenty years, of course they knew the age had been changed. Believe it was announced in 2005. Alternative is to compensate all the men who had to wait a further five years to them to get their pension, hardly fair knowing our shorter life expectancy.

Women affected, and it is not just those 50+ at the time of the announcement but those approaching 50 too, should have their pensions increased going forward, instead of lump sums, as that would make it more affordable (unless they are seriously ill).

From age 18-50, women were told to plan for retirement at 60, only to be told it would now be 65, then 66, then over 66. It was a huge shift. Women in this age group also suffered massive discrimination in the work place when they had children, with virtually no support, and fewer years to accumulate NICs.

My wife didn’t get her pension until she was over 66 years old, that was over 30 thousand pounds out of pocket, I don’t think we will ever get that some back.
