The Escape to the Chateau star has made a revelation which could halt the work being done around their home

Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree have been working on restoring their French Chateau since 2015 – but it seems the work has taken a toll on Strawbridge’s health.

The couple recently returned from their Dare To Do It tour in America and have been catching up on all the work they have missed over the few weeks they were away.

Sitting down together and catching up, Strawbridge said on their podcast, Dick & Angel’s Chat…Eau: “We have been working in circles.

“We haven’t really sat down and caught up so I am excited to hear what has happened over the last week. Have you been busy? He says tongue in cheek.”

Laughing at their manic schedules, Angel replied: “I have not stopped. We have been doing very different things, out and about and in your office.”

Discussing his new health remedy, Strawbridge revealed: “This week I went for my first-ever acupuncture.

“This is called 'Dick the pin cushion', doesn’t sound right, no matter how you say that. But I went for my first treatment because my knee has been giving me some grief and I am still waiting to go along and see the expert which is actually on Dorothy’s birthday.

“So I went along and got pins stuck in me. It was interesting. When you have had 20 years in the army, when you lie down and do nothing, and nothing’s happening you sleep.

“I very nearly nodded off except every time I went to move the pins, I had about 20 pins in my in various places and so I thought, ‘Oh I can’t roll over or move too much because I am sure they aren’t supposed to stick out the other side of your leg or your arm’.”

Curious as to what her husband had been through, Adoree asked: “So did you have them more than in your knee? Were they all over your body?”

“It was interesting,” he quipped. “There is something quite special about it, it is complimentary, there is nothing simple about it.

“But we forgot more than we remember and I think feet, knees, thighs, arms and hands, the web in between the thumb and your finger, if you squeeze it, it gets rid of your headaches.”

Before his TV career and becoming a dab hand at most restoration tasks, Strawbridge was in the army from 1979 to 2001.

He received his commission after attending Welbeck DSFC and Sandhurst, before joining the Royal Corps of Signals in January 1980.
