Carol Vorderman has been criticised by a Tory MP after her pledge to collate data on their social media activity.
Conservative party Deputy Chairman Lee Anderson says the former Countdown statistician needs to “grow up” after she called on her 739,000 Twitter followers to assist her scheme.
Vorderman has been rounding up a list of Tory MPs and councillors who do not say which political party they represent on their social media pages.
In a call to arms on Monday, she said: “I want your help. I’ve noticed a number of Tory MPs and councillors removing mention of them being Tories on their social media profiles.

“I’d like to collate them and do some statistical work on this (you know I like numbers!)
“Can you screenshot any you find and post here?”
Lee Anderson MP has hit out at the move, dubbing it “absolutely ridiculous”.
Speaking to Dan Wootton on GB News, he said: “She’s in the same camp as (Gary) Lineker and (Gary) Neville. These lefties, multi-millionaires, champagne socialists who claim to be on the same side as poor people.

“If she is watching, I say to Carol, if you’re so convinced socialism works and we’re so nasty, let’s see socialism in practice.
“You’ve got plenty of money, give it all away to the poor people in this country and prove you are a caring socialist.
“You’re not though. You’re just a hypocrite who jumps on any bandwagon that comes along. I think she’s a failing B-list celebrity who is trying to look relevant.
“What she should do is act her age, get the bus pass out and go and enjoy life.”
In Vorderman’s data, she concluded that “out of 98 Tory MP Twitter accounts, only 28 have ‘Conservative’ in their bio or header art!!!’
She added: “So far 70 per cent of them have deleted any reference to their own political party.
“Of the last four Tory prime ministers ONLY Rishi Sunak mentions that he is Conservative. Liz Truss – no mention of Conservative. Boris Johnson – no mention of Conservative. Theresa May – no mention of Conservative. How ashamed of their party are they?”
Among the MPs mentioned are Nadhim Zahawi, who was recently re-elected as a Conservative candidate foe Stratford-on-Avon.
She also pointed that only Rishi Sunak mentions he is a Conservative of the last four Conservative Prime Ministers.
