The Met Office has raised concern about a “depression” sweeping in as the UK’s national weather services issues a yellow weather warning.
Residents across England, Wales and Northern Ireland have been told strong winds could cause disruption throughout Monday.
The warning, which is in place from 6.25am to 10pm, could impact coastal communities, cause travel delays and result in short-term power loss.
The Met Office said: “A depression will move east just to the north of Scotland through Monday and will bring a swath of strong winds to Northern Ireland, Wales and much of England.

“Gusts of between 40 and 45 mph are expected widely inland with isolated gusts as high as 50 to 55 mph on exposed coasts and near to heavier showers.
“This is likely to lead to some disruption and longer journey times.”
The East Midlands, East of England, London & South East England, North East England, North West England, Northern Ireland, South West England, Wales, West Midlands and Yorkshire & Humber have all been identified as impacted areas.
The UK’s national weather service has not yet predicted further warnings later this week.

However, England’s Environment Agency has issued eight flood warnings and 65 flod alerts.
Temperatures will likely remain mild today, with WX Charts putting the maximum point for mercury at just 10C in Kent.
Scotland witnessed the coldest morning in the UK today, with residents north of the border seeing temperatures drop to near freezing.
Despite the Met Office not yet issuing further warnings, the UK’s national weather service believes scattered showers could hit parts of the UK.

In its forecast for Tuesday, the Met Office said: “Drier on Tuesday with sunny spells and scattered showers, these mostly in the north and west, but also across the south and east at first. Feeling chilly with blustery winds.”
Looking ahead to later this week, the UK’s national weather service added: “Mostly dry on Wednesday with rain in the northwest later. Rather cloudy on Thursday with light rain spreading south.
“Cloudy for some on Friday. Winds easing as temperatures recover later.”
Showers could hit parts of the UK today, with downpours most likely in Scotland and the North of England.
