What could set Oura's new wearables apart is that its patent filings appear to show a few health feature similarities to Oura's latest smart ring.

According to the eagle-eyed team at Gadgets and Wearables, the patent suggests that these new glasses could have a built-in heads-up dsiplay — a special bit of tech that could showcase your heart rate, temperature, and movement across the glasses lens.
You may also have a camera designed into the frames, which could automatically record your surroundings in the event of an abnormally high heart rate readings. This could prove to be a great feature if your location needs to shared with emergency services in the event of needing medical attention.
The filings also indicate gesture control, as seen in Apple's new updated Vision Pro and Samsung's answer to Meta Quest with its new Galaxy XR headset. This feature allows you to initiate different commands with hand, wrist, or head movements to take pictures or record videos.
The Oura Ring 4 can track your average heart rate and heart rate zones across more than 40 different physical activities | OURA PRESS OFFICE Oura's move to expand into the smart glass market may be a smart choice, as Meta has seen significant success with its releases of the Meta Ray-Ban glasses and its Meta Oakley HSTN glasses.

Meta AI glasses made their initial appearance in 2021, but it wasn't until the release of Meta Ray-Ban glasses in 2024 that they began flying off the shelves.
The tech firm has partnered with French-Italian brand EssilorLuxottica since 2019 to build two generations of Ray-Ban-branded smart glasses. According to Mr Zuckerberg, sales of the latest iteration of these sunnies were going "very well", with demand much stronger than expected.
"We thought that Ray-Ban Meta was probably going to sell three or five times more than the first version did. And we just dramatically underestimated it," said Mark Zuckerberg, co-creator of Facebook.
These particular specs let you take photographs and video from a first-person perspective with a hands-free voice command, making them a hit with social media content creators and parents.
