UK-based brand promises to bring materials, design, screen, and camera closer to 'a flagship experience'

"A new Nothing phone is trying to reach you," a post shared on the forum of the British startup has teased.

Nothing has confirmed plans to unveil its Phone (4a) series on March 5 at Central Saint Martins, London. The event, which starts from 10.30am in the UK, will be available to stream via nothing.tech from anywhere on the planet.

Upstart brand Nothing, which is headquartered in London, launched in October 2020 and has launched a string of award-winning smartphones, wireless earbuds, and wearables. While it hasn't been around for long, the manufacturer has already secured a valuation of over $1.3 billion — almost £1bn — for the first time.

The British success story says it plans to use the money to create groundbreaking AI-powered devices. It's possible we'll see hints at this AI-powered future from the brand in these new handsets, which will supersede the Nothing (3a) Lite. Nothing CEO Carl Pei has teased what to expect from these new models.

In a recent video, the executive who previously co-founded OnePlus, said that "we’re going to be focused on levelling up our (a) series with the (4a). It’s our bestselling series, and we’re really excited about taking this even closer to what a flagship experience is going to be across the board, from materials, design to screen, camera, etc.

He also hinted at a "bold new experimentation of colour” for these upcoming devices, indicating an evolution of the transparent aesthetic that's become a calling card for the London-based brand.

The Nothing Phone 4a lineup will arrive at a very busy time for smartphones.

The March 5 announcement comes a little over a week after the latest Galaxy Unpacked keynote, where Samsung promised to reveal its next entry into the bestselling Galaxy S lineup. Not only that, but 24-hours before Nothing CEO Carl Pei takes to the stage, Apple has confirmed plans to hold its latest event. It's possible we'll see a successor to the affordable iPhone 16e revealed during that event, which could compete head-to-head with the Phone 4a.

Nothing CEO Carl Pei referenced the proximity to the Apple Event in a cheeky post on X, formerly Twitter. The executive shared a screenshot of the invitation to the rival announcement, with graffiti-style writing replacing the Apple logo with "Nothing" and striking the original event date with "March 5" instead.

Whether you're interested in a new iPhone 17e or superpowered iPad Air, the Galaxy S26, or the Nothing Phone 4a, there's not long to wait for any of these announcements. GBN Tech will be in the audience for the packed keynotes, bringing you all of the news and opinion as soon as it breaks.
