The last instalment in the franchise released all the way back in 2013

GTA 6 is likely to be released after April 2025, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.

Rockstar Games released a first trailer for the upcoming title back in December, with the 90 second clip already viewed a staggering 174 million times.

The next instalment of the popular Grand Theft Auto series will take gamers back to Vice City, which last appeared in 2006's Vice City Stories.

Rockstar have already confirmed the franchise will use a female protagonist for the first time named Lucia.

And with the last GTA game releasing a staggering 11 years ago, hype and excitement is very much rising.

Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, have confirmed a release window of 2025.

But Guillemot thinks the release of the game will be 'closer to our financial year '26 than our financial year '25'.

The Ubisoft CEO also revealed his company were 'organising things around the launch of that game', too.

He said, per IGN: "What we've seen in the past is that each time there's a big release like GTA, there are more and more people coming back to the industry, and that helps other games to sell as well.

"We see it for sure. We look at this and we are really organising things around the launch of that game, which we do not know exactly when it is going to happen.

"We consider it will be closer to our financial year '26 than our financial year '25.

"But what we've seen is that generally it's actually positive for the market, and we did a good launch with the launch of GTA 5 first launch and GTA 5 online game, each time we were able to generate really good revenue and profit on the games we launched."

Ubisoft currently have a variety of different games in the works.

Gamers have been praising open beta footage from pirate game Skull and Bones, which is due to release next week.

And they're also working on Star Wars Outlaws, too, which is another title that will feature a female protagonist.

Meanwhile, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has opened up after the first trailer for GTA 6 was leaked early.

Footage from the game was uploaded to social media a day before Rockstar's scheduled release.

They then decided to give fans the trailer they craved hours earlier than initially planned.

And Zelnick says Rockstar haven't paid the price - while also insisting the company are 'excited' about the coming months ahead.

"It's amazing when the trailer announcement is huge news, and then we were very gratified when the trailer broke the internet...so we couldn't be happier or more excited," he said.

"In terms of the leak, that's always disappointing for the team, but ultimately, I don't think it hurt us."

The 66-year-old also revealed that Rockstar were hoping for 'perfection' from the upcoming game as well.

"We're seeking perfection, and when we feel we've optimized creatively, that's the time to release," he said.

"There is an inherent tension, potentially, between getting something to market and creating perfection.

"But this company errs on the side of perfection."

GTA 6 is expected to shatter many gaming records when it releases to the world.

And when that ultimately is remains to be seen.
