Manchester United take on Fulham on Sunday afternoon looking to bounce back from defeat against Arsenal

Manchester United have invested approximately £200 million in offensive reinforcements during the summer transfer window, acquiring forwards Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

The substantial expenditure represents a direct response to the club's attacking deficiencies from the previous campaign, when they managed just 44 Premier League goals - with only three clubs recording worse tallies.

Under manager Ruben Amorim's guidance, the atmosphere at Old Trafford has undergone a notable transformation.

The Portuguese coach expressed his changed perspective, stating: "Last year, sometimes I was worried going to the games, but now I'm excited, it is completely different."

The trio of new arrivals brings diverse attacking qualities to address the scoring drought that plagued United's previous campaign.

Cunha and Mbeumo offer versatility, capable of operating as number tens or leading the line, providing tactical flexibility for Amorim's system.

Their impact was immediately evident in the season opener against Arsenal. Cunha's dribbling ability and Mbeumo's intelligent runs behind the defence showcased the enhanced attacking threat, generating renewed enthusiasm among supporters at Old Trafford.

Amorim highlighted the significance of timing in their arrivals: "They [Mbeumo and Cunha] are coming in at a moment where the spirit is different, the place is different - sometimes we have a lot of very good players but the scars were there and that influenced the dynamic of the team."

The squad's morale has experienced a significant uplift, with multiple players acknowledging a distinct change in the dressing room atmosphere.

Amorim elaborated on this transformation: "We suffered together so much (last season) and that can bond people - the spirit is really good."

The manager believes this improved environment creates a positive cycle for performance. "When you feel the team is playing well, you get confident and you feel more free to play and if you feel more free to play, you are happier," he explained.

This renewed positivity extends beyond match days. "If you are happier, your day-to-day is better and it's like a snowball," Amorim added.

The 22-year-old Slovenian striker Sesko represents a crucial element in United's long-term vision.

Amorim described the forward as "football obsessed" and expressed genuine enthusiasm about nurturing his development.

"When you are in a club like this, you want to have the best players but you also have to imagine the future," the manager said.

"I felt Sesko was even better than what I was thinking.

"I have to be careful, Sesko is going to be our striker for many, many years so we need to put that in his head and let him settle down, to stay calm and enjoy his day because he's really like you said, obsessed."
