Jermaine Jenas was sacked by the BBC last August after it emerged he had been sending inappropriate texts to work colleagues

Jermaine Jenas will not feature in ITV's Soccer Aid coverage this weekend, following his dismissal from the BBC last August over allegations of workplace misconduct.

The former England international was sacked after claims emerged that he had sent inappropriate texts to female colleagues.

The 42-year-old previously worked alongside Maya Jama presenting the charity match, but ITV opted not to include him in this year's production at Old Trafford on Sunday.

According to the Daily Mail, the broadcaster wished to avoid drawing unwanted attention to the charity event, given the recent controversies surrounding the former Newcastle and Tottenham midfielder.

Despite the decision to exclude him from this weekend's coverage, ITV reportedly maintains a positive relationship with Jenas.

The channel's choice reflects a desire to keep the focus on the charitable nature of the event rather than risk overshadowing it with controversy.

Dermot O'Leary and Alex Scott will present the match, which sees England face a Rest of the World XI.

Wayne Rooney and Tyson Fury will co-manage the Three Lions in the charity fixture.

The decision marks another setback for Jenas, whose broadcasting career has faced significant disruption since the BBC investigation began last summer.

Jenas was removed from his role presenting The One Show and working as a BBC Sport pundit following an internal investigation.

The broadcaster terminated his contract, leading to his departure from long-standing agents MC Saatchi and the loss of his Formula E presenting position.

The dismissal represented a dramatic fall from grace for the former midfielder, who had established himself as a prominent face across BBC programming.

His sacking in August came after allegations of sending inappropriate messages to female colleagues prompted the corporation to launch an internal probe.

The controversy effectively ended multiple broadcasting relationships that Jenas had cultivated over recent years.

Despite the setbacks, Jenas returned to football media through talkSPORT in February after initially stepping back from his presenting duties.

Upon his return, he told the station: "The biggest thing in this whole situation is about taking responsibility and that has been at the forefront of my mind...
