The People's Channel fan-favourite took to social media to update his worried fans after missing Wednesday's Breakfast

Eamonn Holmes has been inundated with well-wishes after sharing an update following his latest hospital visit.

The GB News Breakfast star took to Instagram to reveal he's having to wear a patch over his right eye.

The legendary broadcaster stopped short of revealing exactly what happened to result in the patch, but took his ailment in good spirits.

Demonstrating his usual quick wit and humour, Eamonn wrote in his social media update: "One of these eye patches was put on in hospital and the other one by me.

"See if u can guess which?" Eamonn teased. In the first of the snaps, a rather tidy-looking patch could be seen on his face, while the second looked somewhat clumsier.

Spotting the chance for another joke, Eamonn signed off: "Ps U should see the other guy!!!" (sic)

It didn't take long for fans to rush to wish Eamonn well, including some very familiar faces from the GB News family.

Emily Carver was one of the first to take to the comments to share her support. "Oh no!! Hope not too sore!!! X," she penned.

Eamonn has never been one to shy away from keeping his fans in the loop regarding his wellbeing, regularly updating them with how he is.

The 65-year-old has remained resilient after experiencing his fair share of health woes in the past few years.

In 2022, he underwent major spinal surgery to address chronic pain caused by three slipped discs. However, after the surgery went wrong, Eamonn has been candid about it's left him "unable to walk" and "wheelchair bound".

Eamonn's also had to endure a double hip replacement and suffered significant damage to his sciatic nerve, affecting movement in his right leg.

He opened up to ITV last month that his battles have left him with a "physically difficult existence”, but it hasn't stopped him from appearing on viewers' screens early each morning.

During one such discussion on Breakfast back in June, Eamonn opened up to Tim Vincent about his wellbeing after a new study was published highlighting the links between exercise and curbing cancer.

“This makes me feel awful,” he admitted to co-host Ellie and Tim. “Because I would have been pro-exercise, but I can't move. I'm in a wheelchair now.

“I can't put on the right trainers, I can't change, I can't go to the showers, I can't do things… I can't stand up.
