The Switzerland international managed just 10 minutes of game time at the tournament earlier this summer

Alisha Lehmann has swapped Juventus for a new challenge at Serie A rivals Como, just a year after arriving in Turin and helping the club secure a domestic league and cup double.

The 26-year-old forward joined Juve in 2024 from Aston Villa in a high-profile double move alongside her then-partner, Brazil international Douglas Luiz.

But after a frustrating Euro 2025 campaign, where she featured for just 10 minutes for hosts Switzerland, Lehmann has decided it’s time for a fresh start.

Off the pitch, her on-off relationship with Luiz has also drawn attention.

The pair began dating in 2021, split a year later, reconciled in early 2024 after Luiz’s transfer to Juventus and reportedly parted ways again in May.

Her debut season in Italy was disrupted by fitness problems, limiting her contribution to Juve’s title-winning run.

She played just 37 minutes in Serie A last term but still found herself at the centre of debate after leading exuberant celebrations following the club’s championship-clinching win over AC Milan.

Now, Lehmann says Como’s vision for the women’s game was the decisive factor in her move. Speaking to The Guardian, she explained: “It’s an independent club, fully focused on women’s football and that really matters to me.

"From the start, I could see this wasn’t just another team; it’s a project with real purpose and vision.

"Signing with FC Como Women just felt right.”

Como Women, bought in 2024 by investment group Mercury13, are aiming to 'rethink football ownership' and operate entirely separately from the city’s men’s team.

For Lehmann, who has also played for West Ham, Everton and Aston Villa, the chance to be part of an ambitious standalone women’s project proved irresistible.

Her star status has also brought unique challenges.

At Euro 2025, Lehmann was assigned her own bodyguard due to the huge number of fans seeking her attention.

Swiss national team press officer Sven Micosse told Aftonbladet: “We always ensure the safety of players is our top priority in all stadiums.

Alisha Lehmann struggled to make her mark at Juventus, with injuries hampering the Switzerland star

"This is organised by UEFA during the tournament, and our head of security is always on site.

"After matches, he is there when the players approach the fans, and due to Alisha Lehmann’s fame, he sometimes accompanies her a little further.”

Lehmann’s move marks a fresh chapter in a career that has blended high-level football with an unmatched media profile and, at Como, she appears determined to be known as much for her performances on the pitch as for her global following.
