Both the Princess of York and the Prince of Wales recently celebrated their respective wedding anniversaries

Princess Beatrice has adopted a more private approach to royal life, following the example set by her cousin Prince William.

The Princess of York recently celebrated her fifth wedding anniversary with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in Scotland, mirroring the Prince and Princess of Wales's choice of destination for their own anniversary earlier this year.

Both royal couples opted for quiet, self-catered getaways rather than lavish celebrations.

This shared preference for low-key British holidays reflected a broader pattern in how the younger generation of royals conducts their personal lives.

The cousins, who grew up together, have both married civilians and embraced a more understated approach to marking personal milestones.

Prince William and Princess Kate marked their 14th wedding anniversary earlier this year with a trip to the Scottish island of Mull.

The couple spent the night in a self-catered holiday cottage on the island.

Kensington Palace shared the Waleses' Scottish getaway on Instagram with a photograph of Kate and William embracing in the Highlands. "Wonderful to be back on the Isle of Mull. Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome," the Waleses wrote in their post.

Their choice of accommodation reflected a preference for privacy and simplicity over more formal royal residences.

Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo marked their fifth wedding anniversary with their own Scottish retreat.

Edoardo shared a photograph on Instagram showing the couple on a pristine beach.

He wrote in the post: "Happy 5th Anniversary to my incredible partner, the most beautiful and amazing wife. I cherish every moment we've spent together and am deeply grateful for our journey.

"Here's to countless more years filled with laughter and tons of love!"

Whilst the exact location wasn't disclosed, the crystal-clear waters and golden sand in the photograph suggest the Outer Hebrides islands, known for their Caribbean-like appearance despite Scotland's cooler climate.

The couple's preference for British destinations extends beyond Scotland. Before their anniversary trip, Edoardo shared photographs from a family holiday in North Wales, posting images from Criccieth Beach, including dolphins and a shot of his son Wolfie.

"Stunning North Wales. Beautiful memories," he wrote, tagging Wern Holiday Cottages to indicate they had stayed in self-catering accommodation.

Edoardo also recently shared snaps from a family holiday in North Wales

This area holds significance for Prince William, who served in the Air Force there and lived in Anglesey, just 40 miles from Criccieth Beach.

Both royal couples share an affinity for Cornwall, suggesting a pattern of choosing understated British holidays over international destinations.

William, as the Duke of Cornwall, has also been devoting energy to modernising the 688-year-old duchy's lucrative estate.

He recently unveiled sweeping reforms to the Duchy's rental policies, waiving charges for grassroots organisations and offering discounts of up to 50 per cent for local charities who are tenants of the estate.
