King Charles could not forgive Prince Harry's "ultimate act of disrespect" against him and his family according to a royal source.

Harry's memoir Spare contained multiple attacks on senior members of the Royal Family including King Charles's wife Camilla.

Public attacks on Camilla were a known red line for the King and Harry's decision to violate that has been met with consequences.

An insider told the Mirror: "It was the last straw. Harry was well aware how Camilla would be a red line for his father and he crossed with flagrant disregard anyway.

"The King felt without a doubt it crossed a line – it was the ultimate act of disrespect."

Meghan and Prince Harry were told they would need to leave the property just one day after the Duke of Sussex's autobiography was released.

They were originally given just several weeks to pack up their belongings from their UK home.

However, after negotiations, it was agreed they would have until after the Coronation to move out.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed the couple have been asked to leave their UK base, saying: "We can confirm The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage."

Prince Harry's attacks on his stepmother Camilla were labelled "unforgivable" by a royal commentator who has worked closely with both members of the Royal Family.

Angela Levin, who has written biographies about both Prince Harry and the Queen Consort, told GB News that the Duke of Sussex's comments about King Charles' wife were "spiteful".

Levin said: "I think he's very unfair about Camilla. When he said he met her for the first time, it was like being forced to have an injection.

"And I think that's very cruel."

She added: "[Charles is] very protective of his darling wife, as he calls her, because he knows what she's been through, 20 years of people calling her vile things, but she didn't complain once.

"That's what's very important. She didn't make a fuss. She hoped it would pass over, and that's in her nature.

"So she's not gonna make a big fuss about this, but King Charles most certainly will."
