Prince Harry ‘issued a plea to Meghan Markle’ ahead of his upcoming return to the UK, a source has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex has reportedly asked his wife to accompany him on his upcoming trip to the UK.

Prince Harry is expected to return to Britain in May for an Invictus Games event, however, whether his wife and children accompany him hangs in the balance.

A source has claimed that the Duke of Sussex asked his wife to join him on his trip to Britain stating: “I don’t want to do this alone.”

The source added that Harry told his wife that he doesn’t want to “keep making solo trips to the UK.”

Prince Harry travelled to the UK shortly after his father, King Charles, was diagnosed with cancer in February.

However, Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet, stayed at home in California for the visit.

The source said: “He [Harry] would prefer it if the entire family made regular visits to see his family and build bridges, but there is so much going on behind the scenes that it just isn't possible at the moment.

"Both Harry and Meghan were planning to come to the UK, but when the exact time and date of their appearance [at the Invictus ceremony] were made public, she started to rethink that idea."

The source also said that Meghan is no longer comfortable taking their family to London over safety fears.

They told New magazine: "It's now got to the point where Meghan doesn't want to come to the UK with the children. She just doesn't feel safe.

"The situation is now about whether the family should attend with increased security or Harry should go it alone."

St. Paul’s published the exact date and time of the Invictus event on their official website increasing the security risk for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

It came after Prince Harry lost a court case over his police security when he returns to Britain meaning that he will not receive the “same degree” of protection as when he was a working royal.

According to The Telegraph, unless Harry can overturn the ruling by the Home Office over his police protection in the UK, he does not feel that he can bring his children to the UK.

Meghan has made very few trips to the UK since she and Harry left the Royal Family and moved to the US.

The duchess’s last visit to the UK was in 2022 to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, however, she did not attend King Charles’s coronation last year leaving Harry to attend alone.

However, during an interview with Good Morning America, Prince Harry spoke about wanting to visit the UK 'as much as he can.'

He said: “I have got other trips planned that would take me through the UK or back to the UK, so I will stop in and see my family as much as I can.”
