A royal commentator has said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in an "informational blackout" when it comes to the Royal Family after the duchess's podcast was put on hold.

It was revealed last month that Harry and Meghan were not told of Kate's cancer before the public video was released, even though they sent their best wishes to her after the diagnosis.

Speaking to GBN America, Maureen Callahan, the American columnist for the Daily Mail, said: "The only real thing that Meghan Markle and her husband have to merchandise is their connection to the Royal Family, it really is the singular point of interest for either of these people.

"What's true, that we know, is that Harry and Meghan are now in a complete informational blackout. They have no idea what is going on with the health of Kate.

"They have really no idea, it seems, what's going on with the King so she has really nothing to offer."

Earlier this year, the Princess of Wales released an emotional video statement to put a rest to wild speculation about her health, after undergoing a "planned abdominal procedure" in January.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Kate revealed that following tests after the surgery, doctors discovered cancer "had been present", and so she has begun "preventative chemotherapy".

According to reports, Meghan's podcast has been put on hold by Lemonada Media, and GBN America host Nana Akua attributed this to "not looking very nice" because the "King is ill and Kate is out of action."

She responded: "At the same time, she and Netflix believe when better than now to announce that she's filming her new cooking show.

"When is better than now for Meghan to launch her ridiculously, terribly, pretentiously named American Riviera Orchard."

The Duchess of Sussex launched a new lifestyle brand which gave the public a taste of the products it will be producing as jars of strawberry jam were sent to influencers across the US.

One of the influencers whom Meghan sent the gift to was her co-star in Suits, Abigail Spencer, who posted a picture on her social media posing with the condiment.

In the snap, Spencer showed the jam with a ring of lemons as she smiled in the sunshine.

Nana commented on how the lemons may not be seen as such a good thing over in the UK.

She said: "In this country, if you buy a car that is called a lemon, that is the runt of the litter.

"That is like the dodgy one, the one that went completely wrong. So it seems odd that she hasn't put that connection together."

Callahan agreed saying "That is such a great point."
