Keir Starmer earlier vowed he would not 'walk away' after the bruising
GB News Breakfast host Ellie Costello challenged John Healey and Keir Starmer over “living in cloud cuckoo land” after Labour’s bruising local election showing.
In response, the Defence Secretary insisted he and the Prime Minister were determined to “win back” the public’s support.
Mr Healey was speaking to The People’s Channel after Sir Keir had ruled out stepping down and pledged to work harder to “deliver change”.
“You're facing historic losses in the local elections, and the response from the Prime Minister and from yourself this morning appears to be that we need to get on with the plan just faster,” Ellie began.
“Are you in the Prime Minister living in cloud cuckoo land?”
“That's not right,” Mr Healey responded.
“We can work back. We can win back that confidence. But we've got to be bolder. We've got to deliver the changes that people voted for. And we're above all. We've got to give people a sense of hope and confidence in the future.
“You will see steps towards that by being bolder, delivering faster and being determined, as I know the Prime Minister will be, to win back from this very bad set of results, which are a serious setback for labour,” the Defence Secretary pledged.
