References to Mr Biden's 'cocaine use' and Monica Lewinsky are now included in a 'major events timeline'

The White House has taken a series of swipes at Barack Obama, Hunter Biden and other top Democrats after the party objected to Donald Trump's new ballroom.

A "major events timeline" is now included on the White House's website which tells the history of the building dating back to 1791, when plans to build it were first introduced.

While the timeline includes some key milestones in the building's development, it also includes numerous high-profile scandals which occurred under the Democrats' watch.

One slide references the cocaine scandal in 2023 during which the drug was found in the Joe Biden-run White House.

It adds: "Speculation has pointed to Hunter Biden, an admitted drug user."

Other incidents mentioned include former President Bill Clinton's 1998 sex scandal involving intern Monica Lewinsky, and former President Barack Obama inviting a delegation of the Muslim Brotherhood to the building in 2012.

Former President Joe Biden's administration "hosting transsexuals" at the White House in 2023 and then recognising International Transgender Day of Visibility on the same day as Easter in 2024 were also referenced.

The jabs follow a series of furious Democrat attacks against Mr Trump over modifications currently being made to the White House.

Construction is currently taking place on the East Wing to build a ballroom in order to better host foreign dignitaries and large-scale events.

According to the Trump administration, the project is privately funded and, once finished, will be able to accommodate around 650 seated guests.

Hillary Clinton, who lost to Mr Trump in 2016, fumed: "It's not his house. It's your house. And he's destroying it."

Elizabeth Warren, the Senator for Massachusetts, said: "Oh you're trying to say the cost of living is skyrocketing?

"Donald Trump can't hear you over the sound of bulldozers demolishing a wing of the White House to build a new grand ballroom."

New Jersey Senator Andy Kim said: "I wanted to share this photo of my family standing by a historic part of the White House that was just torn down today by Mr Trump.

"We didn't need a billionaire-funded ballroom to celebrate America. Disgusting what Mr Trump is doing."

GETTY

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt hit back, telling Fox News: "Nearly every single President who's lived in this beautiful White House behind me had made modernisations and renovations of their own.

"In fact, Presidents for decades - in modern times - have joked about how they wished they had a larger event space here at the White House, something that could hold hundreds more people than the current East Room and State Dining Room.

"President Obama even complained that, during his tenure, he had to hold a state dinner on the South Lawn and rent a very expensive tent."
