Members of the public seemed split over Starmer’s plan

Labour cannot be trusted on immigration, a poll of GB News members has claimed.

The survey, which included 1,157 respondents, found 97 per cent of members do not believe Sir Keir Starmer can get a grip on immigration, with just three per cent putting faith in the Labour leader.

The Labour Party will make Britain a “magnet for every illegal migrant in Europe” if it wins the next General Election, Rishi Sunak has warned.

The Prime Minister explained that if Keir Starmer gets the keys to No10 he will “scrap the Rwanda scheme and enact a de facto amnesty for asylum seekers.”

Tory chiefs continued to say that Labour has no plan to deal with Channel crossings.

Emily Thornberry said during PMQs Live on GB News last month: “Remember that Rwanda only deals with 200 people and 236 people arrived yesterday. So it's not an answer.

“They don't say what the number is and the highest court in the land says that the Rwanda policy is only going to result in 200.

“So let's be generous, let's say you're going to send 300, given that more than 1,000 people have arrived since January, it’s not an answer.

“The answer is to have a proper returns policy which we would do.

“They have spent £450million on Rwanda and just one guy is going and they had to pay him to go, on top of all the money they've already spent and they’re giving him subsidised accommodation for five years.

“I mean, that's where we are the day before an election.”

When asked by GB News what their thoughts were on Starmer’s immigration plan, members of the public gave a damning indictment.

One voter told GB News in May: “Any scheme aimed at stopping the boats at source is the way forward.

“It’s impossible to say what will work. The Rwanda scheme won’t be a deterrent. We have to stop it at source.”

However, another disagreed saying: “Starmer’s plan is better than what they have at present.

“There will be so many demonstrations and it won’t take off, and they know it.

“It’s just a ploy to keep them in Government for a bit longer I think.

“I don’t think it ever was a deterrent. They are not that stupid. The Conservative Government think we’re all stupid.”
