The Chancellor refused to answer Christopher's question during a post-Budget press conference

Christopher Hope has told GB News of his outrage after being snubbed by Rachel Reeves, declaring her refusal to answer his question a "disgrace".

Speaking to host Martin Daubney following a post-Budget press conference with the Chancellor, the GB News Political Editor hit out at the "gross insult to our viewers".

As the conference came to a close, Christopher attempted to ask Ms Reeves if she would "answer a question on GB News", to which she replied: "No, I'm sorry, I think that's all that we've got time for this afternoon."

Pressing the Chancellor again, Christopher responded, "why not?", which was left unanswered.

Reacting to the incident, Martin told Christopher: "Chris, I watched that press conference live, and I was astonished. Chancellor Rachel Reeves simply refused once again to take a question from GB News - What are they so afraid of?!"

Christopher fumed: "Is it my face? Am I an aggressive individual? Do I look as though I'm furious about stuff?

"I am cross on behalf of our viewers for not being called, but maybe it's me? I don't know what it is."

He added: "I had my hands in the air for the press conference last time when she did the pitch rolling over breakfast. Again, this time the Chancellor looked at me twice, and looked away.

"I think our viewers and listeners absolutely deserve answers from this Chancellor on what's going on. Why are 99 per cent of them in our poll of thousands of viewers saying they're worse off? Why wouldn't the Chancellor answer that question?"

Declaring the snub a "gross insult" to GB News viewers, Christopher stated: "What about the nurses I was standing amongst, many of whom are now on 40 per cent tax? Would you apologise to them, Chancellor? These are the questions I would have asked her.

"But again, she chose not to, and I'm not sure we'll see her on the channel again for a while. We haven't had a chance to put any of the questions that matters so much to our viewers and listeners. It is a gross insult to GB News viewers and listeners that the Chancellor is not taking our questions."

Revealing he has spoken to Ms Reeves's team following the incident, Christopher said: "I've had a word with her team to ask why on earth they are not taking questions from GB News viewers.

"We are Britain's biggest news channel since July, we deserve the respect from this Government and they are not giving it to us."

Reacting to Christopher's anger at the snub, Martin admitted: "Chris, I very, very rarely see you riled. You're a calm, temperate, sober individual, but you're furious about this?"

Christopher agreed: "I'm furious because I think it's outrageous. They must take the questions and answer the questions that our viewers demand and we put to them.

"All we ask is a fair hearing. I want to get the Chancellor on the channel to explain what she's doing, she won't come on. It is a complete disgrace."

Criticising the Chancellor for holding her press conference amongst "hijacked public sector workers", Martin said: "I was struck by the fact she was surrounded by the usual gaggle of hijacked public sector workers, in this case, nurses.

"As you say, nurses will find themselves amongst the 920,000 people dragged into higher tax rates if they're not careful by this Labour Budget."

Christopher responded: "These are people who any fair-minded taxpayer will want to pay for. We want to pay for nurses, they look after our families, they look after us if we fall ill, they are the heroes. Some should, but many should not be caught by the 40 per cent tax.

"I was asking around in that group, some were on 40 per cent tax and I said, 'well, why don't you ask a question? Why don't you say, why am I on 40 per cent tax under your Government?'"

He concluded: "The Chancellor said she's come to the conclusion that extending the threshold freeze would hurt working people, it would take more money out of their pay slips. She said that a year ago, and what's she doing? She's extending it by three years until 2031."
