Manufacturers say soaring production and ingredient costs have forced their hand

Britons have hit out at chocolate companies saying every year festive favourites are "getting smaller".

For many families, Christmas traditions haven’t changed, but the products on supermarket shelves certainly have.

A wave of shrinkflation has swept through some of Britain’s most-loved festive treats, with weights dropping and prices rising across major brands.

Manufacturers say soaring production and ingredient costs have forced their hand, but shoppers say it feels like they’re getting less for more.

For example, shoppers will find out this year that they’re getting 50g less chocolate than last Christmas.

While the new tub dropped from 600g to 550g, supermarket prices have increased from £6 to £7.
