A vehicle crashed into Volodymyr Zelenskyy's car as it travelled in a Kyiv motorcade.
The collision, which took place in the early hours of Thursday morning, came as Mr Zelenskyy returned to the capital after a surprise visit to Izyum.
Izyum was, until four days ago, held by Russian forces but now proudly flies the Ukrainian flag once again.
Mr Zelenskyy was not seriously injured in the incident.

His spokesman Serhii Nykyforov said in a statement: "A car collided with the president’s car and its escort vehicles in Kyiv.
"Medics accompanying the head of state provided the driver of the car with emergency assistance and transferred him to an ambulance.
"The president was examined by a doctor, no serious damage was detected.
"All the circumstances of the accident will be investigated by law enforcement."
Mr Zelenskyy had thanked troops who took part in the Izyum counter-attack, as the city is a key logistics hub in north-eastern Ukraine.
In recent days, Ukraine's army has reclaimed swathes of occupied territory, forcing Russian troops to retreat.
Mr Zelenskyy did not mention the incident in his overnight address.
But he did speak about the impact of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s State of the European Union speech.
He said: “Today was almost a Ukrainian day in Brussels.
“For the first time in the history of the European Union, a country from outside the EU was actually represented at a special session of the European Parliament during the annual State of the EU report — this is our country … I thank Mrs Ursula von der Leyen, I thank all our friends in the European Union for their unwavering support.”
