GB News has been told Priti Patel met with Sir Mark Rowley yesterday.
The Home Secretary is understood to have emphasised the need for fundamental reform of the Metropolitan Police, to help restore public confidence in the force.
During the meeting with Sir Mark, who replaces the previous Commissioner Cressida Dick, Ms Patel stressed the importance of restoring integrity in policing and policing by consent.

She told the new Commissioner that police officers who are damaging the trust of the British public and tarnishing the hard work of the majority need to know that their behaviour will not be accepted any longer.
The pair discussed Sir Mark's plans for his first 100 days in charge.
The Home Secretary said that central to the Met's reforms had to be moves to drive down neighbourhood crime, and deliver on the Beating Crime Plan.
The country's biggest police force was placed in special measures by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary in June after a series of scandals and failings in key areas.
