Michelle Dewberry has come to the defence of GB News, after former Sky News presenter Adam Boulton hit out at the channel, calling for it to be shut down.
The comments follow an on-air incident involving presenters Dan Wootton and Laurence Fox, which resulted in the pair being suspended from the channel, pending a full investigation.
Speaking on her GB News show, Dewbs & Co, Dewberry hit out at the comments made by Boulton, and detailed why she 'passionately believes' in the existence and success of the channel.
Michelle said: "You see that that key sentence, GB News disrupts the delicate broadcast ecology. That to me sounds, basically the way I take that is, there's this all kind of cosy club of broadcasters, and they're all right, you know tick on them, you're all right. Besides any newcomer, whoever you are, quite frankly you're not coming into our space.
"And the reason that I joined GB News is because I believed passionately, and I still believe with all of my heart that there are people out there in society who are not being represented with the traditional media as it existed then and as it existed now.
Michelle continued: "I passionately believe there is a place for GB News. Does that mean that we're not going to make any mistakes along the way? Of course not. Should we be regulated and are we being regulated? Yes. And it is right for that to continue.
"I'm not going to prejudge any outcomes of any investigations, but I think it is important that we don't shy away from the tough debates, including when that involves us as a channel. So I'm sure these conversations will continue and so they should.
"But for now, I very much appreciate your company. I appreciate yours too. And absolutely you guys at home. Thank you for watching. Thank you for judging us for yourself, rather than what you read on social media. I appreciate it."
