Dramatic images have emerged from Paris as France enters its eleventh day of protests and strikes against Emmanuel Macron’s controversial pension reform.

Macron invoked article 49.3 of the constitution which meant he was able to push the pension reform bill through French parliament without needing a vote from MPs.

The bill raises the retirement age by two years from 62, to 64.

Protesters today were heard chanting “what those in power do, the people can undo”, and “strike, blockade, Macron walk away."

Airline workers, teachers and other public service workers have all gone on strike in protest of the bill.

Footage from the protests showed smashed windows, police officers covered in paint and smoke canisters being thrown in a stand off between the police and protesters.
