Police have been on the scene since approximately 8.30am this morning

A cordon has been placed around a house in the Liverpool suburb of West Derby after a "reckless" shooter fired multiple rounds at a house.

Merseyside Police's Chief Inspector Paul Rannard said: "We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry as we seek to establish the circumstances of what happened.

Merseyside Police rushed to Central Drive at approximately 8.30am this morning after reports of gunshot.

While there appears to have been damage caused to a wall and window of a property, no one has been injured.

Police have issued a statement warning that the shots could have had "disastrous consequences".

"Thankfully nobody was injured but clearly the reckless actions of the individual who fired the shots could have had disastrous consequences.

"It is vital that members of the public who saw or heard anything contact us as matter of urgency so we can apprehend those responsible.

"We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry including witness and CCTV enquiries and would ask any motorists who were in the local area to check their dash cam to see if they captured anything significant."

Forensics are currently pouring over the scene, carefully investigating the damage caused to the wall and window at the property.

House-to-house enquiries are also taking place as officers continue to investigate exactly what happened.
