Self-checkouts have received some unexpected support in the way of former How Clean is Your House host Kim Woodburn.
A fed-up shopper has started a petition to get rid of the new technology in favour of the traditional human checkouts.
The petition has been signed by more than 100,000 people urging Tesco to rethink their strategy.
But Kim, who also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, said the self-checkouts help keep the queues moving at the supermarkets.

Speaking on GB News, she said: "I don't like them at all, I'm not technological and I can barely operate a telephone but I can see the necessity for it.
"I can tell you, the technology is here to stay my love."
When Green Goddess Diana Moran said she liked the human interaction element of dealing with staff, Kim exploded.
She said on Dan Wootton tonight: "I could strangle you. I'd shoot you I hate it.

"It's a busy day and we're all mad busy and this woman bless her saying how are you today, you feel like saying get on with it.
"You say you like the personal touch, I agree it's lovely but it never hust ends with that with a lady, it never ends.
"It's too busy to have a conversation about your corns and how she's doing.
"When I was young I use to go to the corner shop but those days are gone."
Kim also reserved some criticism for lawyer and author Rebecca Jane and young mothers shopping.
"You young mothers you've got a telephone in one hand, you've got their kids screaming and kicking.
"I'm not taking it back and that last call to your mate, you've already called her five times."
A Tesco spokesman told said: "Our colleagues and the friendly service they provide are absolutely vital to our stores and will always be on hand to help our customers, whether they are checking out at one of our colleague-operated or self-service checkouts."
Twitter hashtag #BringBackTescoStaff has been used more than 3,000 times by people sharing the petition.
