The Foreign Secretary said the group are failing to heed warnings

Grant Shapps has warned Houthi rebels “watch this space” after their latest attack on UK vessels.

The Foreign Secretary said the group are failing to heed warnings after the Navy were forced to repel another attack.

“They have failed to heed the warnings issued on the 3rd of January”, he said.

“We seem to see a drop off after that by a number of different countries including the UK and the US for them to stop and to cease this action.

“I’m afraid that last night proved they really are not listening. If this doesn’t stop then action will be taken.

“I’m afraid that I suppose the simplest thing is to say, watch this space.”

In recent weeks, attacks by Houthi rebels on ships in the Suez Canal have seen the world’s largest shipping firms halt shipments through the Red Sea, adding thousands more miles to journeys.

Last week, fashion retailer Next said stock deliveries and sales could be affected if the attacks continue to disrupt the vital shipping route.
