Britons around the UK have reacted with mixed views in response to the privileges committee’s report on whether Boris Johnson misled Parliament over Partygate.

In its report, the committee concluded that Johnson should have been suspended from the House of Commons for 90-days, should not have access to a former member’s pass and that he played a complicit role in a campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the committee.

One Streatham resident said: “Yeah, I believe he lied to us for his own reasons. Whether they're good or bad, I don't know. But we will see, I believe any decision that has been made has time to kind of manifest its ramifications.”

A Hull resident showed her support for Johnson, explaining: “I think he's done well and I think he was a good Prime Minister. He had a tough job with Covid and I think he managed it brilliantly.

One woman in the town of Barnstaple said: “I just think it’s all a farce. All MPs do what they want to do and when they want to do it. As Boris said, the decision was made by a kangaroo court. I think he did us good and they’re being a little bit cruel to him to be honest.

“He did an excellent job in a difficult situation. I don't see how they can down him now. He made mistakes, so did hundreds of others.”
