Tories must be CONSERVATIVE to win over frustrated voters and stop Reform threat, Hunt argues

In this GBN members-only video, Tory MP Tom Hunt gives his view on what the Conservatives should be focusing on
Asked about the Conservative Party's prospects amid rising support for Reform UK and large Labour Party leads, Tom Hunt gave his response: "Firstly, it's never been my approach to to start sort of haranguing candidates from the political parties and say 'what are you doing standing?'
"No one party or has any kind of ownership ever really, you win votes by building trust.
"You win votes by delivering things that people want. That's how you that's how you win elections.
"So I mean, ultimately I'm not focused on Reform really. I think I think we need to as a Conservative Party, we need to be conservative.
"We need to deliver conservative policies and that is immigration control. It's cuts to net migration. It's dealing with the small boats. It's cutting taxes, standing up to woke and standing up for British values.
"I think if we do all of those things and we focus our attention on doing those things, ultimately the threat from Reform will take care of itself.
"But if we don't do those things, Reform will be a threat. And it's not that surprising it'd be ticking up in the polls. It's taken a long time for them to do that. But I think it's it's not all that together that surprising.
"People are hugely frustrated of a small boats issue.
"They're hugely frustrated net migration levels and the only way we'll deal with the threat from Reform is by delivering those issues."
